Hi, it’s Michael Albanese again I took the RHCE and MCDBA training courses from Koenig at the Goa training centre. Although not as extensive as my Oracle experience, I’ve been working professionally on and off with Linux for about seven years. Unlike most certification training, the Red Hat Certification Exam is a 5.5 hour practical and not multiple guess. Therefore, it critical that the applicant have a good understanding of Linux; there’s no way you can fake it. Fortunately, the training I received from Koenig enabled me to pass my exam to the full RHCE and not just the RHCT level. The Linux people reading this will understand what this means.
I took the red hat training in GOA. The only thing I disliked about the Linux training course was that the RHCE exam is given in Delhi, requiring me to leave Goa for Delhi. However, the Koenig staff at Goa arranged everything for my trip to Delhi and my stay in Goa. So, all I had to worry about was passing the exams.
During my stay in India, I’ve resided in Dehradun, Delhi, and Goa. Goa is by far the best. It never gets cold here and the beaches are incredible. It was great fun watching CNN hearing people complain about the sub zero weather in Europe and the US whilst it was 35 degrees in Goa. If you visit Goa, I recommend you take the tours of North and South Goa, two separate tours at RS150 each. If you’re pressed for time, then take the South Goa tour only as you get to see more history: churches, temples, Old Goa, etc. The Wednesday flea market at Anjuna is also not to be missed. Don’t be afraid to haggle as the first prices offered are ludicrously expensive. Dudhsagar falls is also worth a visit. Koenig staff will help to arrange a tour for you.
After RHCE, my original plan was to go to Kerala. However, I was very much impressed by the training decided to take MCDBA training instead. Unlike Oracle and Linux, I’ve had almost no exposure to MSSQL; but the training course & the trainer provided me with a good foundation and I am now MCBDA certified.
I now plan to spend a few days on the beach catching UV’s before. Hopefully, I shall return to India next year to take Linux, Oracle RAC and Java. I hope to start off in Shimla, stay in Dehradun for a while, and end up in Goa,. Also, there still Kerala to visit.
Regards,
Mike
